Open Media is a not-for-profit Canadian organization that mission is advance and support a media communications system in Canada that adheres to the principles of access, choice, diversity, innovation and openness.

OpenMedia.ca is a national, non-partisan, non-profit organization working to advance and support an open and innovative communications system in Canada. Our primary goal is to increase public awareness and informed participation in Canadian media, cultural, information, and telecommunication policy formation. We strive to make media and telecommunications more transparent, with broader and more representative public participation. Our job is to shine a spotlight on key media policy developments, and provide essential tools and information for citizen engagement.

OpenMedia.ca:

Engages: Through online campaigns and participatory events that resonate with everyday people, and civic engagement around media and communications policy in Canada.
Educates: Through educational events high school and university presentations and workshops, and online resources.
Empowers: With online tools and open processes that enable citizens to advance their vision for open media.

Their programs, tools, and campaigns serve as an incubator for a community of advocates for open and innovative media. We provide resources for volunteer organizers, collaboration tools and leadership development.

Open Media is hosting a fundraiser September 23rd at the Anza Club. Its theme is a Blog Party where everyone wears white shirts and writes or blogs on people’s shirts! The event is 19+ and tickets are available at openmedia.ca for $8 or $10 at the door.

The Knots lead singer and lead guitarist Jeff and Johnny came on the August 23 show and gave their first on air radio interview with Y57! I was impressed to hear about the band's accomplishments considering the age of the members. They have played shows at major Vancouver events, wonBC's Best Band this year... the Knots!
