CPR is a show that aims for young aspiring choreographers to create from within and bring something truly original and genuine to the stage. In this generation of dance it is easy to fall into only using YouTube and television shows as their source of inspiration. The goal of CPR is to “Challenge, Progress, and Refresh” through themselves and to encourage choreographers to be dependent on their own talent and creativity.
Held Friday August 5th, 2011 at the Michael J. Fox Theatre, this show featured 10 choreographers going head to head, competing for a $1200.00 prize and an opportunity to go Los Angeles to train with the best. Everything from the roster, music, costumes and props were decided upon the choreographers. The top two groups chosen by the audience finished off the show with an invigorating freestyle battle and with a one last chance performance. A congratulations goes out to Jasmin Galang and Caroline Dao for beating out 6 other performances. These two faced off Chris Bonus and Theron Eikre in the last two standing challenge with a performance to Beyonce’s “Video Phone.â€
The whole show featured amazing performances from each group, and every one performance was just as inspiring and entertaining as the next. A special thanks to Dream Dance Studio artistic director and co- founder Jenn Galo, Jon Urbano and the whole Rhythm Influenced team for organizing such an amazing event. Watch out for the next CPR challenge coming very soon!
