The TEDxKids@BC conference took place in September of 2011, and has since developed through a tightly knit team of youth and adult members. The team collaborate to plan TED conferences here in B.C. that revolve around the powerful ideas that are worth sharing, particularly from youth. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, is a non-profit organization with the mission devoted to “ideas worth spreading”.
Since its establishment in 1984, TED has become a global phenomenon, with conferences in all 7 continents (yes, 7! The first-ever TED conference on Antarctica, called TEDxYouth@AntarticaPeninsula, took place this past winter thanks to Selin Jessa, a student from Burnaby!)
Join the TEDxKids@BC team and the event-planning of the upcoming events, including TEDxKids@BC Change, which takes place in Science World on Thursday April 5th, 2012 along with the live-streaming from TEDxChange in Amsterdam. It’ll be a great experience to not only get involved with an internationally established organization, but connect with other driven and inspiring people of all ages.
There are no particular requirements – just the enthusiasm to help deliver the powerful messages of today’s youth. It is recommended, however, that you deal with e-mails, Google Docs and occasional meetings.
