This week we had a full(er) team on air today! Join Mirelle, Alex, Rachel, and Sam Squared (a.k.a. Sam Miess and Sam Mumford) as they chat about what they have been up to now that the winter break has begun.
As well, we played a clip that was sent in by Christina Wong, who founded the Street Store Vancouver. Now in its fourth year, Wong started the Street Store Vancouver as a way to provide a “dignified shopping experience for the residents of our community”. On Sunday, December 17th, the Street Store Vancouver will be available to the public to purchase gently used items free of charge and free of judgment. This event relies heavily on the generosity and donations from people like you, so if you have any items such as winter clothing for men and women, backpacks, blankets, socks, and other gently used items that you would like to donate, please bring them down on December 17th to 62 East Hastings Street at 9 AM. Alternatively, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and if you would like to drop of your donations prior to the event. We hope that you will support this worthwhile cause, especially since the cold weather is currently in our midst!

And just like that – the Street Store Vancouver 4.0 is 6 days away! I'm humbled and grateful for all the generous support I've received from our local community for the past 3 years. A moment I'll always remember is hosting my first street store in 2014 with 8 volunteers as my birthday event. The expectation I had at the moment was two plastic tables, a tent and a bunch of donations. Three years later, we now have 10 tents, 50+ volunteers and over 10,000 donations from our local community. This definitely couldn't have happened with you all – incredible things can happen when we work together. A perfect example of that is Cougar Canyon Elementary School! These little soldiers pumped up their school and collected 30 bags of donations for the Street Store this year 🙆🏻 If you'd like to make a difference again this year, here are some ways you can do so: 1) Donate – High priority items include blankets, socks and backpacks. 2) Spread the word – Create a movement and re-share this post 3) Eye contact – If you can't do 1 or 2… nod, smile or acknowledge an individual in need. For more info, check out the link in the bio to the event page.
