Alternative media is media you can access that is not government or corporate funded. It offers multiple perspectives on matters and events that might be overlooked by mainstream media by incorporating a platform for voices of minority groups to be heard, as well as opportunities for social and political movements to flourish.
Pho, a Vietnamese noodle soup, has become increasingly popular in Vancouver (and North America) in the last few years. Either Vietnamese restaurants are popping up like wildfire, or my recent discovery of pho has led me to notice all of the pho restaurants that were already there.

Stores like Whole Foods, Choices, and even Lululemon promote this philosophy—healthy living starts with a healthy gut.

This year marked the 7th season of Eco Fashion Week and people from all over Vancouver dressed to impress at the show. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the purpose of Eco-fashion week, the founder Myriam Laroche explained a little bit about the concept at the Thrift Chic Challenge.
“It’s about changing the clothing industry,” Laroche said. It’s ”about finding new ways to make [fashion] eco-friendly and to find your own eco-recipe for fashion.”
This week, I went to the dentist for the first time in about two years. Considering that generally, you are supposed to go to the dentist once every six months or so, it’s safe to say that it’s been a while for me. The infrequency of my visits is caused by two factors—I absolutely hate going to the dentist (and the doctor, but that’s another story), and going to the dentist costs a lot of money.
