Though each show sounds effortlessly pieced together with top of the line content, it is certainly not the effort of one individual that makes each show a success. Over the years, Y57 has expanded into a fully functioning media team. These are the current people that are working hard to produce content you care about on-air and online:
Y57 Co-host & Editor in Chief
Amanda is an easy going, carefree Vancouverite that enjoys sipping on green tea lattes and eating chocolate chip mint ice cream on sunny days. As a spontaneous world traveler, she loves learning about new cultures, and exploring the globe with a backpack and a trusty pair of worn-in sneakers. Rom coms, froyo, music, yoga and fictional books sum up her character. This out and about girl loves the laid back lifestyle, but also adopts a “work hard, play hard attitude” where she loves taking on new challenges.
FALISHA ALI | @FalishaAli01
Y57 Co-host & Radio Producer, Fashion Blogger
Falisha Ali is a recent graduate in the Marketing program from Langara College. At a young age, she started mixing different colours and textures together to create her own unique look. The love affair with fashion had then begun. Falisha is a foodie and loves late night Taro or Oreo bubble tea and california rolls. She is a Hello Kitty fanatic and a shopaholic! In her spare time, she enjoys the arts and loves attending ballets, operas and theatre performances. You can also find her strolling down gastown on her adventure to discover great food and of course shop! Falisha is a world traveller and enjoys learning about different cultures. She hopes to move to New York and become a fashionista/editor at Vogue.
Rheanna Neil | @rheanna_neil
Junior Fashion Blogger
Rheanna Neil is from Burnaby, British Columbia. She is taking the part-time Broadcast Journalism program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She really enjoys going on-air at Y57 every Tuesday night on 100.5FM on Vancouver Co-op Radio. In her spare time she enjoys writing, reading and dancing competitively. One day, Rheanna hopes to anchor or host a television/radio show of her own!
SONIA | @soniasophia
Senior Music Producer
Sonia is from Vancouver, British Columbia and is currently a Communications student at SFU. When she’s not busy with school or work, she co-runs a music blog, networks with music industry individuals, jams with her band, attends as many concerts as physically possible, works on her photography, and volunteers for awesome independent organizations. If one was to ask her to describe herself in one word, she’d most likely say something like ‘bad at following directions’. In the future, she would love to travel more, meet more amazing people and to continue being a big music nerd.
Junior Music Producer
Emily is a fun-loving, outgoing, typical Vancouverite who is currently in her final year of pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Simon Fraser University. In her spare time, Emily enjoys going to as many concerts and local shows as she can, drinking London Fog lattes, eating sushi, and enjoying her beautiful city. In the future, Emily hopes to pursue a career in artist management and/or public relations in the music industry.
Social Media Coordinator
Ashley Wong is a recent graduate from SFU’s School of Communication. With 3 internships under her belt, Ashley has finally found her niche in the marketing and social media world! Ashley’s other passions include music, theatre and community development. While keeping up with Y57 listeners through social media, Ashley can also be found playing her guitar, attending a concert, or quite possibly on top of peak she just hiked! Ashley is excited to be part of a station that features local musicians and content – and most importantly, working within such an awesome possum team.
DOMINIC CHAN | @domchandc25
Dominic Chan is from Vancouver, British Columbia. While he’s not busy with Y57, he is involved with the film and TV industry, writes scripts, jams to his favorite music and takes photos as his hobby. As a passionate actor and singer, Dominic hopes to work as a vital member of the film and media industry.
LORENZO SCHOBER | @lorenzoschober
Lorenzo Schober is a Communications student at Simon Fraser University and currently in his first year. He is an aspiring journalist and has a background in cooking. Originally from the Okanagan he considers Vancouver his real home.
