Hey Alex! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m an SFU student currently majoring in communication and minoring in history. I live in East Van, where I was born and raised; I’m pretty spoiled to be living in such a great part of the city.
Choose three words to describe yourself.
Stoic, passionate, and motivated.
Why did you join Y57?
I’ve always loved radio and this was the natural product of growing up listening to the CBC. Either that, or I just love the sound of my voice too much.
What do you do at Y57?
I interview guests on air mostly, and I’m always on the lookout for possible interviewees for the show.
What is your favourite part about being part of Y57?
I love getting to meet all kinds of amazing artists from in and out-of-town. Being a part of the local arts and youth scene is a true privilege and I’m very thankful for the opportunity.
Give yourself a nickname for what you do on the show:
“La bouche” (French for “the mouth”).
What is your greatest life goal?
To have my own businesses and be entirely economically self-sufficient.
What are three things that you cannot live without?
Fresh made Chapatis, tea, and travel.
What is your biggest fear?
That I’ll be abducted and replaced by a smarter version of myself from another dimension.
Which celebrity would play you in the movie about you, Alex?
Not a major celebrity but if I’m honest, probably Iwan Rheon who played Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones.
Make a 5-song playlist of your favourite songs!
“Patience” by Nas and Damien Marley
“Malcolm Said It” by Akala
“Feel Good Inc.” by Gorillaz
“Long Live the Chief” by Jidenna
“Say Yeah” by Sauti Sol
